General description of the collection: The Jay D. Hensley papers consist of an organizational day program for the 14th Infantry Regiment at Fort Benning dated 14 August 1964; a clipping dated 2 September 2002 about the 761st Tank Battalion, the first black tank battalion to fight in World War II; an undated clipping about the 14th Infantry Regiment; and 2 maps titled the Odyssey of the 14th Infantry Regiment, 7 February 1945 - 8 May 1945, and the 71st Infantry Division, WWII, Europe, respectively.

Private First Class (PFC) Jay D. Hensley was born 26 August 1917 in Knoxville, TN. He was inducted into the Army on 17 April 1941 in Chicago, IL. He left for the European Theater of Operation on 26 January 1945 and fought in the Rhineland and Central European campaigns until 18 October 1945.
